Coffee Varieties
Coffee is grown in more than sixty countries around the world. However, different coffee species require different conditions to thrive. Arabica grows best in temperate climates, while robusta is highly tolerant of heat. Coffea arabica and Coffea robusta are the two most commercially important coffee species.

Smooth Arabica
Coffea arabica, considered the finest coffee species, originates from Ethiopia. Around 70–80% of all coffee produced worldwide is arabica. It is used in nearly all of the world’s best coffee blends, thanks to its smooth and well-balanced flavour.

Intense Robusta
Coffea robusta originates from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It thrives in tropical lowlands and is therefore widely cultivated across Africa and Asia. Compared to arabica, robusta has a stronger, more bitter taste. Thanks to its bold character, it is often used as the base for espresso blends. Robusta also contains nearly twice as much caffeine as the more delicate arabica.
